Farewell to a great friend, a great man …..

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this post.

Douglas Dahms, a great friend, support and board member of ACCV has passed away.

I am fortunate indeed to be able to say that Doug has been a close and dear friend for many years.

Doug was one of life’s real gentlemen. He was a clever guy, with a very sharp wit, a soft heart and the solid strength of character that makes a great colleague and a true friend.

When I returned from our first trip to Hanoi in 2006, I told Doug what we were planning, his response was; “Ali, what are you thinking? Geez, don’t you have enough kids already?!”

He then signed up as an ACCV board member and he’s been a great support to me and ACCV ever since.

Through the highs and lows (there've been plenty of both) Doug’s friendship and support never wavered, never. No matter what was happening we could always talk things through over a coffee, and end up having a laugh. I am very grateful to have known him, and for all that he gave.

Rose has known Doug her whole life, and she was very fond of him too. As kids often do, she says it so well, "it's just so sad, he was so nice".

Doug was a great friend and a great man. He was well loved, and he will be truly missed.

kind regards

Alison
